THE JOURNEY

Participants are invited into an exploration of deeper intimacy with God, identity as God’s beloved children, and where they fit into God’s kingdom work.

The Journey group (usually 6-12 people) meets together weekly, guided by a trained facilitator from your church who encourages accountability, safe relationships, thoughtful reflection, honest conversation, and prayer. The facilitator’s role is not to be the “subject matter expert,” but to guide the group through a set of reflections, relationships, and experiences.

HOW THE JOURNEY WORKS

The Journey is a commitment and the rewards can be significant.

  • • Small group gatherings (two hours a week)
  • • Walking together for six to eight months
  • • Regular study, reflection, Bible reading, and prayer (two to four hours a week)
  • • A spiritual mentoring relationship with a mature believer (twice a month)

Overview of The Journey Process
Take a peek at The Journey manuals:
Stage 1: Biblical Foundations
Stage 2: Personal Foundations
Stage 3: Relational Foundations

Epic tales and timeless stories take time and commitment to tell. They do not happen overnight but rather over decades, filled with countless victories and losses. Yet for the most part, discipleship has been forgotten and neglected because it is counter-cultural to the instant media era in which we find ourselves. Something needs to change about how we get to know God and how we do ministry. Simply put, this change begins with paying attention to the epic stories within you and those you lead. We believe this is where discipleship begins.

At VantagePoint3, we believe pastors have a responsibility for the formation and release of passion-filled disciples who will do their part in serving and leading wherever God plants them. Yet we also know that these same pastors often feel alone as the weight of discipleship falls on their shoulders. But what if there was a solution that would relieve the pressure of developing a discipleship process for each individual church? What if there was a process – a journey perhaps – that was designed to take each participant deeper into relationship with Jesus, while developing the strong roots of spiritual and leadership formation to better equip individuals to in turn serve others?

Through a biblically-based curriculum called The Journey, we uniquely integrate leadership development, discipleship, and spiritual formation in a community-based manner. Led by trained facilitators from your own church, each participant will embark in a slow and deep process to explore three key questions: Who is God? Who am I? What does God want to do through me?

Join with us as we explore a way of life that has been neglected for too long. A Jesus way of life.

You have chosen to facilitate a remarkable seven-month process called The Journey. It uniquely integrates leadership development, discipleship and spiritual formation in a community-based manner. Each participant will embark in a slow and deep process to explore three key questions: Who is God? Who am I? What does God want to do through me?

Your role is not to be the “subject matter expert,” but to guide the group of eight to twelve people to a glorious destination. Each week`s material provides much more than you could discuss in a group, so you will prayerfully and skillfully decide how to set the stage, what to discuss and how to end your time together.

As part of your investment as a Facilitator, The VantagePoint3 (VP3) team invites you to join a regional Facilitator Training event. Click here for more information. During this event you will meet other facilitators, be trained by a VP3 representative and become very familiar with the content from The Journey.

The material is designed to show you and the participants to move beyond living just below the surface of life and beyond borrowed convictions. Rather it guides us into the deep, unique story that God is writing in all of our lives.

Join with us as we explore a way of life that has been neglected for too long. A Jesus way of life.

At VantagePoint3, we believe that all Christian leaders, including pastors, have a responsibility for the formation and release of passion-filled disciples who will do their part in serving and leading wherever God plants them. As a result, we have developed The Journey: a process that is designed to take each participant deeper into relationship with Jesus, while developing the strong roots of spiritual formation to better equip individuals to in turn serve others.

We believe that discipleship is so much more than an eight-week bible study course. Discipleship is the lifelong development of spiritual habits and relationships learned in community that allow people like you to notice the epic nature of your own story and discover how it fits into the remarkable story of what God is up to today.

Through this biblically-based curriculum, VantagePoint3 uniquely integrates leadership development, discipleship and spiritual formation in a community-based manner. Led by a trained facilitator from your church, each participant will embark in a slow and deep process to explore three key questions: Who is God? Who am I? What does God want to do through me?

The Journey is a six to eight month commitment with a small group of people (men and women, young and old) who meet once a week for a couple of hours. Regular study, reflection and prayer are required prior to each weekly session (about two to four hours a week). You will acquire a spiritual mentor who you’ll periodically meet with and learn from throughout the process.

Join with us as we explore the biggest questions of our faith and recover what has been lost in the 21st century church; a way of life that has been neglected for too long. A Jesus way of life. Let’s discover together the good story that God is writing over your life and the lives of those you lead.
