Walking With Others
Walking with Others is a discipleship process that helps adults discover how to come alongside others with spiritual attentiveness, relational wisdom, and grace-filled presence.
“We deepen our Christian life for more than our private edification. We grow to help others grow. The one who learns becomes one who helps others learn, in a beautiful reciprocal relationship.”
– Timothy Jones
This third and final stage in the VantagePoint3 discipleship pathway will challenge adults to take a next step in their development—learning to become developers of others. It builds on The Journey and A Way of Life by equipping adults for relational ministry and paying attention to their lifelong apprenticeship with Jesus. Rooted in Jesus’ example of walking with people over time, Walking with Others provides a meaningful space to reflect on how God uses our presence, listening, and stories to guide and encourage others in their spiritual lives.
Prerequisites: The Journey, A Way of Life
By leading a group through Walking with Others, you will help participants grow in their capacity to be a trusted companion on someone else’s journey of faith.
A Place of Learning and Formation
A Lifelong Perspective
A Leadership of Companionship
Through Walking with Others, adults begin to reimagine the everyday ways they can lead, mentor, and disciple others—not by mastering a method, but by offering their presence and attention in Jesus’ name.
Testimonials From Leaders & Participants
“The Walking with Others process taught me the value of paying attention to the Spirit working in other people’s life and allowed me to practice asking thoughtful questions to help them see the Spirit already at work as well.”
How Walking with Others Works
Each session invites participants to reflect, share, and practice ways of walking with others that are rooted in love, humility, and grace.
- Groups typically include 4–10 adults led by a VP3-trained leader or facilitator.
- The process includes 21 sessions that can be completed over 6-8 months, with flexible pacing.
- Group sessions foster storytelling, honest conversations, and shared learning.
- Participants are encouraged to engage in mentoring conversations outside the group.
This is a space where adults grow in confidence and competence to walk with others as spiritual companions in everyday life.
